Academic Year 2014-15

 

As per guidelines of Board of College and University Development (BCUD), University of Pune, the College has appointed Dr. Savita Sanjaykumar Rahangdale as Academic and Research Coordinator of the college, since 2014.

The main objective of appointing the coordinator in the college to facilitate smooth functioning and implementation of different academic and research schemes sponsored by University of Pune; and to promote inculcation of research environment in the institution.   During this academic year, following major activities have been conducted by the coordinator, under this scheme.

  1. Presentations of Research projects
  • In Avishkar:

Under guidance of faculty members total six research projects prepared by ten students and one teacher. These projects were presented in the AVISHKAR 2014 zonal level competition organized by BCUD, University of Pune, on 24th November 2014, at Dr. D.Y.Patil College of Arts, Commerce & Science, Pimpri, Pune-18.

In the same seminar Science Quiz competition session also organized for student award and two students was selected for second and third award respectively Mr. Bhujbal Dattatray Dnyaneshwar and Mr. Sahane Prafull Laxman.

In Seminar award session Miss. Shinde Tejal Vishwanth and Miss. Kalekar Snehal Shivaji awarded for Best seminar presentation award.

  • Participation in Science Day project competition, GMRT

Under guidance of Prof. Bhise S.R. and assistant help of Mr. Vilas Kurahade two projects was presented in the Science Day Project competition organized by GMRT, Khodad on 28/2/2015 out of this “Pressure energy to generate electricity” project selected for award.

 2. Organization of competition:

    1) Environmental awareness

  1. Drawing competition

College level Environmental awareness drawing competition was organized by Department of Botany during on 21st December 2014 on the occasion of Annual function at B. J. College, Ale. This Environmental awareness drawing posters was visited by a total of 100 students from same institution. Total 23 different posters were prepared and exhibited by students of the college.

  1. b. Poster Competition

Natural disaster: causes and precaution major ex. Malin Disaster poster competition organized by History Department at college level. Total 25 students from different faculty participated in this competition.

2) Science Project competition:

             College level Science project exhibition was organized during the occasion of Annual function by Department of Physics at B. J. College, Ale. Twenty-eight students participated and presented project. Dr. Rahangdale S.S. and Mr. Rathod S.B. are appointed as examiner for assessment and to guide students.

3) Plant photograph competition:

College level Plant photograph competition was organized during on 22nd December 2014 on the occasion of Annual function at B. J. College, Ale. This Environmental awareness drawing posters was visited by a total of 100 students from same institution. Total 23 different posters were prepared and exhibited by students of the college.

4) Essay Competition:

            College level essay competition was organized by History and English Department.

 5) Quiz Competition:

            Different quiz competition was organized by different faculties on the occasion of Annual function at B. J. College, Ale.

6)  Scholar Competition:

     Mr. and Miss Scholar competition was organized by Science and Commerce faculties.

  1. C. Student Seminars:

Faculty members engaged in research, extension and other activities have presented their work and findings in the form of seminar talk for other faculty members to bring about the sharing of ideas and views. Total 4 faculties presented their talks.

  1. Research Projects:

The research projects are always playing very important role in the recognition of any Institution at National and International Levels through scientific publications generated through project studies. Total Five Research Papers have been published in the National and International refereed journals and proceedings by the four faculty members viz. Dr. Rahangdale S.S., Dr. Gorde V.S., Mr. Bhjubal R. C. and Sau. Waghole A.R.

Three Faculty members have authored Text books as per the revised syllabi of university of Pune.

Most of the faculty members have presented their research findings in National and International Conferences of their respective subjects.

Total Fourteen students attended and participated Avishkar workshop organized at Ramkrishna More college, Akurdi and Samartha Polytechnique College, Belha.

1.Prof. Tagad Radhakisan Namdeo, Head, Department of Botany, has obtained Ph. D. degree of University of Pune entitled, “Taxonomic Diversity of Algae in Junnar and Ambegaon Tehsils, District Pune with Special Emphasis on Phytoplanton of some Impoundment of The study Area”. on 3rd September 2014.

  1. Prof. Kshirsagar G. Head and Assistant Professor in Marathi has obtained Ph.D. degree of University of Pune, entitled, “ dS kssarI yaa va`&tp=acas vaaK% mayaIna va saask`itk kayaZ ,k icaikRsak AByaasa” oon 13th Nov. 2014.
  2. Prof. JADHAV PRAVIN GANPAT Head, Department of Mathematics, has obtained Ph. D. degree of University of Shri Jagdishprasad Jhabarmal Tibrewala University, Rajasthan entitled “Study of some problems connected with Geometrical Functions” on 13.01.2015.

These projects were presented in the AVISHKAR 2015 zonal level competition organized by BCUD, University of  Pune, on 29/09/2015, at Indira College of Commerce & Science, Tathawade. One project was elected for University level research project competition from Pure Science.

Orientation Lectures for Avishkar 2015 organized by A.W. College, Otur in association with Board of College and University Development, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune on 04/9/2015. In this seminar under the guidance of Physics, Botany, Chemistry and History faculty members total 52 Students participated in workshop.

  • Participation in State level seminar: Miss samiksha Chavan participated in one day state level seminar and presented her paper entitled by ‘’Study of Characteristics of laser light , effect of temperature’’.

  2. Brief Report of Orientation Lectures for Avishkar 2017

The ORIENTATION LECTURES for AVISHKAR 2017 were organized in the college to sensitize the students and faculty of this college and from neighboring colleges of traditional and technical streams as per the guidelines set by Board of College and University Development (BCUD), SavitribaiPhule Pune University, Pune. The activity was sanctioned void the above mentioned letter from BCUD, SPPU with the grant of Rs. 10,000/- (Rs. Ten Thousands only) towards the expenditure for organization of the orientation lectures. The orientation lectures were organized on 28th September 2017 from 10:00 am. onwards. The invited experts were from the Expert list for Orientation Lectures AVISHKAR released by SPPU, Pune. Dr. Gujarathi D.M., Associate Professor in Commerce,Sangamner College, Sangamner, Dr. Raut C.G. Scientist E, National Institute of Virology(NIV), Pune, Dr. Aghav S.D. Retired -Vice Principal and Head Department of Physics, B.R. Gholap College, Sangavi, Pune, Dr. Rahangdale S.R., ARC and Head Department of Botany A.W. College, Oturand Dr. V.M. Shinde  Head Department of Chemistry, A.W. College, Otur were invited for the orientation lectures. (The schedule of the lectures is enclosed).

The invitations were also sent to Principals / ARCs and students of total 15 colleges and institutes in the surrounding places. From the other colleges total 43 students and 14 Faculty members were present for these orientation lectures. Total 71 students and 18 faculty members of DGM’S B.J. College, Ale were also present for the orientation lectures. The students were from UG and PG classes of Arts, Science, Commerce, Pharmacy, and Management faculties. Thus, total 114 students and 32 faculty members have taken an opportunity and get benefitted from the orientation lectures.

WagholeAruna, Head Department of History; Prof. Bhise R.B. Head, Department of Physics and member of Research committee,Dr. Gorde V.S. from History Department and member of Research committee; Prof. Rathod S.S., Chairman Competitive Exam and Professors from different subjects and other faculty members were also present.

  1. Brief Report of one day workshop on Environmental Awareness and Students Poster Presentation.

To create environmental awareness among the students one day workshop on Environmental Awareness and Students Poster Presentation program organized by Institution on 12thFebruary 2018 from 10:00 am. onwards.In this program all Management Members, local inhabitants, students and some staff members actively participated.  In morning session Dr. AparnaWatave delivered lecture on Western Ghats and Environmental Issues. From second session students present their projects. In this workshop 101 students from S.Y.B.Sc.present their posters.

A Report:

The ORIENTATION LECTURES for AVISHKAR 2017 were organized in the college to sensitize the students and faculty of this college and from neighboring colleges of traditional and technical streams as per the guidelines set by Board of College and University Development (BCUD), SavitribaiPhule Pune University, Pune. The activity was sanctioned void the above mentioned letter from BCUD, SPPU with the grant of Rs. 10,000/- (Rs. Ten Thousands only) towards the expenditure for organization of the orientation lectures. The orientation lectures were organized on 28th September 2017 from 10:00 am. onwards. The invited experts were from the Expert list for Orientation Lectures AVISHKAR released by SPPU, Pune. Dr. Gujarathi D.M., Associate Professor in Commerce,SangamnerCollege, Sangamner, Dr. Raut C.G. Scientist E, National Institute of Virology(NIV), Pune, Dr. AghavS.D. Retired -Vice Principal and Head Department of Physics, B.R. Gholap College, Sagavi, Pune, Dr. Rahangdale S.R., ARC and Head Department of Botany A.W. College, Oturand Dr. V.M. Shinde  Head Department of Chemistry, A.W. College, Oturwere invited for the orientation lectures. (The schedule of the lectures is enclosed).

The invitations were also sent to Principals / ARCs and students of total 15 colleges and institutes in the surrounding places. From the other colleges total 43 students and 14 Faculty members were present for these orientation lectures. Total 71 students and 18 faculty members of DGM’S B.J. College, Ale were also present for the orientation lectures. The students were from UG and PG classes of Arts, Science, Commerce, Pharmacy, and Management faculties. Thus, total 114 students and 32 faculty members have taken an opportunity and get benefitted from the orientation lectures.

28th September was ‘World Rebies Day’ therefore, Dr. Raut C.G. of NIV, Pune has emphasized on the research regarding Rabies disease and research opportunities in Science, and local awareness about diseases. He has opined that, the different issues and the research in these fields are making high influence at local, social and international levels. Therefore, the students have to think in the social issues and find out the solution wherever there are lacunae or shortcomings.

 

Dr. Gujarathi D.M has delivered his interactive and demonstrative lecture comprising of the introduction of AVISHKAR and its levels of organization. He explained the opportunities for the students and faculty in the commerce and Marketing. He has focused on skill development and research related to commerce and marketing.

Dr. S.R. Rahangdale has highlighted on Research done at UG and PG level. He explained the opportunities for the students and faculty in the activity. How a research is going on and the steps involved in the scientific research. The steps in research, viz., origin of problem referencing, methodology of research, observations, analysis of the data generated through experiments, verification of the results and interpretation of the conclusion of the experiments. If these points are exposed to the students and undergraduate level many of the social, environmental, administrative, economic, infrastructural and other common person related issues could be resolved with ease. He has also guided the students how to prepare for the Avishkar competition at different levels, style of the presentation either oral or through poster, etc.

Dr. Shinde V.M has explained the research opportunities in chemical science and recent developments in the subject.

Dr. AghavS. D. has emphasized on the research in Social sciences, Humanities and Physics. He has opined that, the different issues and the research in these fields are making high influence at local, social, administrative, political and international levels. He has also guided the students how to prepared for the Avishkar competition at different levels, style of the presentation either oral or through poster, etc. During this lecture he has explain different scholarship related to research and how  SPPU, Pune helps in filling patents.

All these experts have given answers to the questions and queries raised by the students.
